WB:Video of Satellite posted online

Yet another video from the new Winterborn album, although I’m not it the video (like with Into the Shades of Gray) I did however play the keyboards on the song….and yes that it the former WB keyboard player Jukka on the keys in the video. Confusing ? Yeah I think so too ;-) Check out the video below:

cheers,

Henkka

  1. It was a bit confusing seeing Jukka play something that sounded CLEARLY like you but I didn't mind too much ;) it's a great song and a good video!

  2. Wow! My first reaction to hearing this song was, "This is f**ken awesome!". :-D I'll admit, I played it a few times in a row. This is my first time hearing Winterborn and I like their...your sound. You are still a member, right? I'm guessing Jukka stepped in to...um, "keysync" your part, due to your touring obligations.
At first I thought I was mistakenly seeing Pasi in the video. Then I remembered hearing somewhere that he was in the band too. Just how many bands are you guys currently in (not a rhetorical question)?!
If you hadn't mentioned that you are playing in this song, I would have been thinking, "Boy, that guy plays almost identical to Henkka!" But, there really isn't mistaking your signature sound, and it is really evident @ 4:14 and 4:57. I really, really love this song. :-)

  3. I'm actually not a member of Winterborn...at least I don't think so. I just agreed to help them out and play the keyboards on their upcoming album, btw just got a new track in the mail to put keyboards to and the song is just amazing. Great stuff !

  4. Oh yeah, I also wanted to ask that question :D You are a constant member of Silent Voices though, right? It's really a bit confusing, but heck, as long as we get great music I think I can live with that ;) The singer of Winterborn kinda sounds like the one from Blind Guardian btw, I think... which I like.
And yeah, yesterday I also kept listening to Into The Shades Of Grey and Satellite on Youtube alternating for, like, hours... Oh, btw, Shades of Grey isn't on any album, right? It's only available as mp3 download?
I'm waiting for 4 albums from WB and SV to arrive, which I ordered two days ago... ;-) Can't wait to hear more from that stuff. Youtube just isn't the same. (plus, mostly blocked, damn you Germany...)

Cheers, and have a good show tonight!

    1. Yeah I'm a member of Silent Voices and the WB singer also joined SV...SoG and Satellite are from the upcoming WB album...

    2. Ooohhh, okies. Do you already have a release date? Or is it like with the other stuff, you'll see when you have time so maybe hopefully sometime next year? :)
Okay, just so I got that clear in my head: You, Pasi and his brother Timo are both in SV and WB? So the singer of WB also joined SV... but he doesn't sing on Reveal The Change, does he? Thought I saw that there were different singers on that one (Tony being one of them). Dammit, that's why I need the physical albums. There you can see who's playing what song.... Might actually get them today, btw. Farewell to Saints and Cold Reality by WB and RTC and Chapters of Tragedy of SV. Hopefully the booklet will tell me who's playing what, as my hearing seems to be too wrecked to really identify it... though I might be able to recognize Pasi and of course Tony.

And heck, I'm just gonna ask that here now cause the question keeps bothering me: Who's running the two SA Twitter accounts? I think it might be Pasi, but are there also others posting stuff every now and then? Just 'cause I'm curious :)

      Thanks and cheers!

    3. Actually Timo (Pasi's brother is not in WB) and yeah Teemu the WB singer joined SV and he's singing the first song on Reveal the Change but that was before he joined the band ;-) Pasi is doing most of the SA twitter-thing, I post something every once in awhile...the SonataKemi account is the more informal spur of the moment kinda things...

    4. See, THIS is why we call it the Kauppinen Mafia. 90% of Kokkola bands are interconnected through the Kauppinen brothers, they look out for their own, and you can never really leave! ;)

Seriously tho I imagine it's a bit confusing to somebody just starting out...I suggest checking the Kauppinens' Metal Archive pages and trace out all the connections, they're done pretty well. Of course the caveat is that you will end up liking ALL the bands and becoming yourself a prisoner of the Mafia ;)

    5. Oh lol, sorry... where are my manners. Thank you for your answers!! I like to confuse myself, it seems :P
So, who got the SA Coca Cola can? :) Did some fan get it done at the Cola-stand at the festival, or one of the crew? (I got told that Finnish Coca Cola company is touring festivals with a stand where they do that... and I also got told that I shouldn't just call it "Coke", could be misunderstood... :-P)

I kinda love the way how it seems that you're all just one big family :) No matter if SV, WB or IM... and the SA guys also get "used" for solo stuff :D
Also seems like you don't want to answer the question about the release date for the new WB album... I'll stop asking and just keep waiting, hopefully you'll keep us posted or the WB Facebook page (the Twitter seems to be kinda dead).

Please give a very happy birthday to Elias if you see him or talk to him!! Hope the little video-thingie will reach him, should come through the Chilean Fanclub... lol, don't ask^^

Cheers and beers, and woooo-hooooo!!! for almost 700 shows :-)

    6. I don't know where the Coke cans appeared from, someone just brought a bunch of them to the backstage so each of us got several of them ;-)

  5. Ah, ok. I wasn't 100% sure if you were or not...so now I'm more confused about WB's former keyboardist being in the video. Was it filmed before he left? Are they looking for a new keyboardist? Btw, the long-haired guitarist,(sorry, I don't know his name) was he in Mental Health Care with you and Pasi? I found the "Alone" video a little over a month ago and he kind of looks like the guy playing the acoustic.
Another track we get to hear your beautiful playing on? That's great! Can't wait to hear it! I already think Satellite is amazing. Is it possible I could love this one more?:-)

    1. For the moment I'll do the keys for the WB album and yes Renton is in MCF as well. Jukka the former keyboardist filled in for me when the video was shot some weeks ago since I couldn't make it...

    2. It's always funny how Jukka isn't technically a member of either WB or Isäntä Meidän and yet he keeps being pulled in, lol. Like, I saw IM on Thursday and there he was, on keys. Not that I mind, I really like him as a player :) and it's never wise to question the ways of the Kauppinen Mafia! ;)

    3. As you can see, I like to change names of things to my liking every once in a while...I couldn't stop laughing when I realized I misnamed MCF. I'm still laughing! :-)
Shades of Grey is a good song too but I really love Satellite. Knowing what the latter is about made me think of the one way trip to Mars that's supposed to happen in about ten years from now. I can't help but see it as a death wish.
Anyway, do you know when the album is set to be released? Looking forward to hearing the next song, and if they make a video for, I hope we'll be seeing you in it!

  6. No idea about when the WB album will be ready, I doubt the guys themselves even know it ;-)...and to make matters more confusing Jukka has also filled in for me on a couple of SV gigs back in 2006...

    1. oh wow, I didn't know that! So there's only two keyboardists in Kokkola then? LOL

    2. Thanks for the answer. We'll just have to be patient and wait you guys are ready, right?
Well, yes it is very confusing...especially for me since I've only recently begun to discover all those other bands you were/are in(probably more I'm not aware of), and all the stepping in for each other that you do. :-) How old is SV, btw?

      Delete
    3. Yeah there are only two keyboardists in Kokkola hahaha :-P Silent Voices was started in May 1995...

    4. And only one bassist! ;) (ok, two if we count Jouni....)

    5. Tracey, I only recently read some text called Chapters of History, written by yours truly (at least it says Henrik Klingenberg at the bottom...) about the beginnings of Silent Voices... It was a very interesting read, give me a message at sqreborn@gmail.com and I'll send you the link :-)
Hope I haven't poked the bear now xD

Henkka, I wanted to ask you something. How many mails do you guys get per week approximately? And is there any rule on replying to fans or something? No worries, I won't start harrassing you via mail now, I'm just curious...

And something else... any idea when the band info section on the new SA homepage will be updated? (love the new design, btw)
At least Kokkola has two of the best keyboardists, right? ;-)

      Delete
    6. Actually could you send me the link to the Chapters of History as well ? I remember writing something like that but have no idea where I posted it...or when for that matter ;-) I get around 20-40 mails per day including work mails, fan mails and the very occasional spam that gets through my filter ;-) There are no rules regarding fanmails, I do answer if I have the time which most of the time is not the case, here in my blog I've strived to answer everyone that has a question...

    7. ...and the SA band info section is under works...might take some time still. Best keyboardist ? No, not really ;-)

    8. hope SQ doesn't mind me stealing her thunder but I had it lying around, lol: http://web.archive.org/web/20030624065906/http://koti.mbnet.fi/~voices/chapters.html

it is very interesting and in depth indeed, and my favorite part of it is you bribing Portnoy with bootlegs for backstage passes. LOL

      wonders of the wayback machine....

(the old MCF site is also there and boy, I sure wish the pics and videos (and the merch!!!) were available still.... http://web.archive.org/web/20081207003721/http://www.mentalcarefoundation.com/main.htm)

    9. ...and for that we are all very grateful! :-)
For me music is mainly about feelings, and as no one can change his or her feelings, everyone is allowed to have their own opinion.... my opinion is that you rock, and I didn't say THE best keyboardist, did I? ;-) lol

Pfffft, you just want the link so you can take it down, right? But whattahell, I already saved it on my hard disc, so you'll get a mail after that one.

      Delete
    10. No I ain't gonna try to take it down, just wanted to check out what the hell I've been writing...and it wasn't so much trying to bribe MP but our initial dream was to be able to follow their soundcheck which unfortunately wasn't possible (closed session) which is totally understandable, we like it that way ourselves as well but it was worth a shot....

    11. Aw, shame that :( but yeah, I can totally understand that, I wasn't making fun of you or anything, sorry if it seemed that way. It's just something that makes me smile and sometimes when I get anxious that I'm too exhuberant with you guys I think about that and I know you've been there yourself, it's kinda reassuring ;)

    12. Thank you very much for the links HMQ and SQ! I will go through them when I get the chance...poking the bear, haha. That bear was poked quite a while ago. Now it's asleep somewhere...for now. ;-)

Henkka, I don't believe I have expressed this before but, like everyone here, I truly appreciate that you take the time out of your busy schedule to interact with us and answer our questions. It really does mean a lot!

A happy weekend to all! :-)

      Delete
  7. Yes, HMQ. I believe it's already happening. ;-) I'm really liking what I've heard so far of SV and WB.

Hank, the confusion some of us are experiencing concerning your all collaborations kinda reminds me of this Abbot and Costello skit. http://youtu.be/airT-m9LcoY
Hope you don't mind me sharing it, and I hope you all enjoy. :-)

p.s wow, SV is almost 20yrs old! That's a lot of music I've got to look for...
p.p.s. Another July baby! Sorry I missed Elias' birthday, but i'll bet it was a good one!
